If it works in BW Offshore, it works everywhere!
BW Offshore is one of the world’s biggest suppliers of floating production services to the oil and gas industry. For example, it has 13 FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) units – vessels to which products such as oil can be transferred from platforms, and which can then process the raw material or simply store it until an oil tanker arrives onto which the raw material can be loaded. These vessels are spread across almost the entire globe, and often operate under extremely tough conditions.
Novacura Flow is fully in line with our ambitions to develop more applications in-house.
Novacura Flow has now made an appearance on board these vessels. As BW Offshore often says: If it works in BW Offshore, it works everywhere!
Why did you choose Novacura Flow?
BW Offshore was looking for software that could ensure data communication between our ships and land. A tool that could continuously synchronize our databases. The strictest requirement was that it should include a replication module, and Novacura Flow does.
You invested in Novacura Flow six months ago. What are your impressions?
BW Offshore have many more uses for Flow further down the line, including in connection with web apps that handle forms. They currently using Microsoft InfoPath, but will increasingly switch to Flow.
We’re extremely pleased. The tool is easy to work with, but it’s also robust. Novacura Flow is fully in line with our ambitions to develop more applications in-house.
How are things coming along?
Working with large suppliers is a complicated, time-consuming process. BW Offshore need partners who can get to grips with our complex situation and adapt their software according to our specific needs.
We worked closely with Novacura during the development work. They are extremely service-minded, and tailored Flow according to our requirements.
How far have you come in the development work for your replication tool?
This was a three-phase project for BW Offshore, and the first phase is now complete. This means that a first version of the tool has now been fully developed, and is being used on two of our ships. One of them is off the coast of Africa, and the other is in the Gulf of Mexico.
The application works very well indeed. In phases two and three, we’ll be introducing the tool on all our ships.
